From 1980 I lived for almost two years on the Cape Verde islands, working on a media project and shooting two films. One of those films (Between Pain and Laughter) was shot in the same village where I took the photographs. The exhibition is structured by different themes, my texts and quotes from the women are added to the pictures. All the women received prints from me at the time.
